JAPAN

Land of the rising sun

... Next Tokyo, the bustle of the big city, crowds of people, fantastic traffic system where you neednīt wait more than a minute for a connection although you can change the line possibly a hundred times. The harmonic jingle of railway crossings - a train was coming through every ten minutes, and the local public servants who organise everything (for example they warn when the crossbars are going down so you can be prepared or they tell you how to stay in a queue). Every evening my coming home was accompanied with old-american music played nearby in "Hamanasu-steak" - and these are, by the way, really delicious steaks. An aroma of local bakeries where I spent most of the money appointed to food. In the supermarket the salesgirl packeged the foodstuff nearly into a bag and whatīs more, she sorted it according to type. And all just "arigato gozaimashī or "gozaimashta" with a smile.

Thatīs why the smile of the local people will be forever saved deeply in my mind, together with their sometime funny bows and all the rules which it is not possible to break, because the Japanese would never think about breaking them - "is not good", says Konosuke and thatīs the end of all discussions. Especially for us, Czech, who are used to get around everything whatīs at least a little bit possible. No problem because, after all, a different country means different habits, anyway.

At the end of my stay I was presented an amount of gifts from students, so I had to pay for overweight of my luggage:-). Yes, it was also my guilt. Some gifts I presented myself and some things I bought also for a few of you in Prague.

...so it was only a momentary remembrance on the country which can stroke a soul so nicely...
